Cowboy Andrew

Andrew had cowboy day at school awhile ago and really enjoyed being a cowboy for  the day.  His horse he made at school.  He named it red.

Red is still around and Andrew still enjoys playing with him.

Our Adventures with an Owl

I had taken the kids to the store and when we got back we were walking into the house and the kids got scared by something.  I looked to see what it was and there was an owl staring at me in my strawberry patch.  I figured since it wasn't flying away it was either sick or hurt.  I must admit it completely freaked me out so I wanted to get rid of it.  Greg was attending General Conference at the church building so he wasn't home to help me with it.  He told me who to contact so I did and was able to get pointed in the right direction.  Finally someone from the DNR was able to come get it and was going to take it to ISU for rehab.
Here is the owl "hiding" in the strawberry patch

Getting caught by the DNR guy

He showed the kids what it looked like.
After he caught the owl he asked if the kids wanted to come out and look at it and so they did.  He talked to them about the owl and what he was going to do with it.  He was really great.

My New Equipment

I have been on a big kick to get healthy (not that I am terribly unhealthy) and get the extra weight off.  I get so bored with working out that I have gathered a rather large library of workout videos.  As of late, kickboxing has been my favorite activity.  I find that it really gets any frustrations out.  In college I used to run a lot to get my frustrations out.  I am finding that I miss that.  I can't even go for a walk because I have to take the kids with me and they walk at a much slower pace than I do and then they step in front of you and cut you off and it just wasn't working for me. Greg was finally convinced to get a treadmill.  It came yesterday and today I was able to walk 3 miles while the kids played.  I will continue to do the workout videos as well because I need both the cardio of the treadmill and the strength training in the videos.

We decided on an Epic treadmill after much research.  I was not really familiar with treadmills before.  My parents have one and Greg had used the ones at the fitness center.  This one is more for the serious user than one who is going to use it occasionally so it is huge and built to last.  The papers on the book stand are from Jonathan.  One is a picture of me walking on the treadmill and the other one states my treadmill goal.  It says "treadmill goal: to wear out the treadmill."
I am excited to have it and it will be nice to have when the weather gets really hot this summer to be able to workout in a climate controlled environment.
