In August Madison got her camping trip with Greg. She really wanted to go to Reiman Gardens in Ames to see the butterfly house. She also wanted to hike at Ledges State Park. Since school had started and they couldn't leave as early as they normally would, they decided to camp closer to home and then have a little longer drive on Saturday. They camped at Hickory Grove near Colo. There is a great lake there that they enjoyed looking at. Madison has always enjoyed searching for a geocache and she got lucky on this trip to have more than one. Due to the heat and dry conditions there were burn bans so they adapted their menu to be able to cook on the camp stove instead of a fire. Greg found a great recipe that used pie filling and granola and Madison really enjoyed it.
Reiman gardens also had a display of Lego creations. I am just amazed at what can be done with Legos.
They also had a display of bird houses from people all over the state.
Madison had a lot of fun spending time with her dad. She took it well that they couldn't build a fire and she still had fun without it. They spent time Friday night looking at the stars and enjoying the quiet time together.
